Because of the season overview Activision released on July 27, a lot of DMZ’s changes were known prior to the inception of Season 5. However, exhaustive DMZ patch notes are now available, meaning we know every change to the extraction mode with the August 2 update.

There won’t be a DMZ reset with S5, kicking that can down the road to a potential sixth season or the launch of CoD 2023. A new Disguise Field Upgrade is among the biggest changes, hiding players from enemy AI combatants when equipped.

Now, courtesy of the devs themselves, check out the full lowdown on DMZ’s changes.

The patch notes detailed in the section below are exclusive to DMZ.

Al Mazrah, Ashika Island, and Vondel are all under attack.

Battles rage between the existing factions and a new threat, Konni.

Both sides will be fighting with everything they’ve got, calling in Killstreaks in what is known as Active Combat Zones. Intel suggests that higher-quality supplies and gear are more present in Active Combat Zones compared to single-faction areas.

In Al Mazrah, all Cartel are KIA within the Koschei Complex. Konni found it, completely gutted it, and found some additional hidden tunnels under the city.

We have also lost Building 21 to the Konni Group. With your help, we can get it back.

To all Operators: Shadow Company are your family now. We will not take the first shot on any Operator in any DMZ Exclusion Zone, and fight arm-in-arm with you in our battle against Konni.

New Field Upgrades

Disguise

Battle Revive

Self-Revive Box

New Equipment

Scuba Gas Mask

Updates

New Missions and Urgents

Friendly Fire

Adjustments

Below is a breakdown of the main changes outlined by the devs with S5’s overview. It goes deeper into the Konni Group and the four new items coming.

With Season 4 Reloaded, the devs teased new threats making themselves known across DMZ’s exclusion zones. We now know that was referencing the Konni Group. Not a lot is known about the new group, but they’ve taken hold of Building 21 and cleared the Cartel out of the Koschei Complex.

The initial messaging for Season 5 stated: “Konni found [Building 21], completely gutted it, and found some additional hidden tunnels under the city. We have also lost Building 21 to the Konni Group. With your help, we can get it back.”

As a result of the conflict and the emergence of the Konni Group, the Shadow Company are now friendly to Operators. Those deploying are encouraged to “fight arm-in-arm” and warned that “friendly fire will not be tolerated.”

There are four new items coming into DMZ with Season 5. The image below shows you the symbols for each new item in game, with explanations following.

DMZ Season 5 Full Patch Notes
